Charles Joseph ‘Charlie,’ ‘Chuck’ DesRoches, 35, worked in construction and home improvement

Charles Joseph ‘Charlie,’ ‘Chuck’ DesRoches, 35, of Virginia Beach, died unexpectedly Friday, May 27, 2016. He endured a long-term battle with the disease of addiction. Charlie, as he was affectionately known to his family, and Chuck, to his many friends, ultimately lost the fight.

Charlie was born February 7, 1981, in Suriname, South America. He worked in construction and home improvement. He had aspirations of furthering his education in the information technology field and was due to start classes this summer.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty June Einarsson; and paternal grandfather, Joseph Louis DesRoches.

He is survived by his mother, Cindy Garman (Greg) of Norfolk; father, Daniel DesRoches (Velvet) of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Jessica Gengler (Brad) and Sadie DesRoches, both of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Ryan DesRoches (Danielle) of Williamsburg, Christian DesRoches (Mariya) of Denver, Colo., and Jack DesRoches of Virginia Beach; nephew, Grady Gengler of Virginia Beach; and his paternal grandmother, Amy DesRoches of Virginia Beach. He also leaves uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

Please join us in celebrating Charlie’s life at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Road.
