Barbara ‘Bobbie’ Hitchings Gresham, 80, of the 600 block of Pinetree Drive, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016. She was a native of Princess Anne County and the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Mae Hitchings.
Bobbie was a 1953 graduate of Oceana High School and a 1957 graduate of Mary Washington College. She retired from the Virginia Beach City Public Schools in 1990. She was a longtime member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church and the Pearsall Bible Class.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter Quarles Gresham Jr.; four children, Chuck, and his wife, Rhonda, Diane, and her husband, Doug, Don, and his wife, Debbie, and Rob, and his fiancé, Bobbi Jo; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loretta Tate and Patsy Bevan.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home, Laskin Road Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at the funeral home chapel. A private burial with the family will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to The Gathering at Scott Memorial UMC.
