Bernard Lee Whalen Jr., 67, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016.
Lee was a native of Virginia and a Yorktown resident for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a realtor on the Peninsula for many years before becoming a property management owner. He was a member of the American Legion, Yorktown, and was a coach with York County Little League and the American Legion Baseball team.
Lee is survived by his loving wife, Glynda Whalen; son, Bernard Lee Whalen III; two stepsons, Kenneth Ray Williams and Mark Richard Williams; a special son, Matthew James Kidd-Hux; three brothers, Douglas, Bruce (Cheryl) and John (Judy) Whalen; sister, Diane Lewison (Terry); three grandchildren, Dalton, Austin and Alexis Whalen; great-granddaughter, Rieal Whalen; and his faithful companion, Toto.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
