Deward Jack Elrod, 86, former quality assurance manager who enjoyed traveling

Deward Jack Elrod, age 86, of Williamsburg, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Mr. Elrod was preceded in death by his son, Paul Elrod. He leaves behind his wife, Doris A. Elrod; stepchildren, Karen (Ralph) Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kerry (Darlene) Hovey of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Jean (the late Hugh) Thompson and Sue (Ken) Maiorano; daughter-in-law, Kathie Elrod, of Delaware, Ohio; and two nephews, Michael and David Maiorano.

Mr. Elrod was a pastor for many years working for the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Kenton, Ohio, and as an associate pastor for Village Missions. He then became the quality control manager for Cooper Tire in Akron, Ohio, followed by quality assurance manager of Parker Hannifin Corp., Marion, Ohio. He and his wife loved to travel in Europe and has visited many places in the United States.

The family received friends at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at James River Baptist Church, 4931 Centerville Road, Williamsburg, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Toledo, Ohio.

Memorial contributions can be made in Deward Jack Elrod’s name to James River Baptist Church.
