Lucy Belle MacMillan, 95, a spicy, humorous woman who liked to make people laugh

Lucy Belle MacMillan, 95, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at home with her family by her side.

She had been a resident of Virginia Beach for many years. She was born April 24, 1920, in Forsyth, N.C., to the late Rufus Henry Sapp and Nannie Lee King. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. In her 95 years, she touched a multitude of people. A spicy, humorous woman, she was always making people laugh. She enjoyed cooking and crafting for others.

She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters; her son, James (Jimmy) Reece; and three grandchildren, Wesley Golden, Angela Morgan and Lenny Moser.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Harvey Dale Reece (Phyllis) and Ray MacMillan (Reene); three daughters, Mary Lou Dickey (Bob), Jean Knoten and Brenda Jennette; 16 grandchildren, and a total of 46 great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 717 Whitehurst Landing Road, Virginia Beach.
