James Shawn ‘Jamie’ Rial, 47, had ‘big-teddy-bear’ way of being, laid-back attitude and quick wit

James Shawn ‘Jamie’ Rial, 47, unexpectedly passed away early Tuesday morning, March 8, 2016.

He was born in Memphis, Tenn., in March 1968 to the late John S. Rial Sr. and Charlene B. R. Caldwell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Lee Hansen.

Left to honor his memory are his mother, Charlene B. R. Caldwell; stepfather, Richard Caldwell; brother, John S. Rial Jr., and wife, Kris; niece and nephew, Rachel and Joshua Rial; grandmother, Gloria Rial Cole; great-aunt, Mary A. Ware; uncle, F.H. ‘Sonny’ Rial, and wife, JoAnne; aunt, Donna Rial Jenkins; uncle, Richard Rial, and wife, Carole; stepmother, Marty Rial; stepsister, Lisa Hansen-Davis, and children, Jeremy Hansen, Brenan Davis and Ashly Davis; and stepsister, Donna Turner, husband, Russ, and children, Shelby and Derrick Ringer. Other special people in his life are Vyvyenne Martin and Robby Jenkins, along with numerous cousins, friends and coworkers.

Jamie was a heavy equipment mechanic for U.S. Government contractors for nearly 20 years of his career until mid 2015. Recently, he began working for GEICO as an Insurance Service Representative.

His warm, ‘big-teddy-bear’ way of being, along with his laid-back attitude and quick wit, will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends and co-workers.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with a service to begin at 11 a.m. celebrated by Father Mario Fulgenzi.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
