Frederick Maynard Page III, 65, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at his home. Fred was born on May 12, 1950, in Norfolk to the late Julia and Frederick Page Jr.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served his entire two-year tour in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Fred showed his appreciation for his fellow veterans throughout his life, and worked as a fundraiser for various non-profit veterans’ organizations all over Tidewater. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 3204, for over 25 years.
Left to cherish Fred’s memory are his two daughters, Cheri and Michelle Page of Roanoke; his siblings, Bob Page of South Hill, Jerry Page, and his wife, Mary Anne, of Harrisburg, Pa., Debby Gallet, and her husband, Francis ‘Frenchie’ Gallet, Wayne Page, and his wife, Gina, and Donny Page, all of Virginia Beach; his grandchildren; one aunt, Louise Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Fred’s life will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 3204, 1061 Newtown Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. An inurnment with military honors will take place at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
