Tyrus Raymond Ryan Jr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016.
Tyrus was a native of Roseland, Ontario, Canada, and a Peninsula resident since 1962. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a master sergeant at Fort Eustis in 1997. He was an avid bowler, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Tyrus is survived by his wife, Shirley Ryan; sons, Tyrus R. Ryan III, and his wife, Dawn, and Michael S. Ryan; his brothers, John, Lynn, Charles, Peter and Gene Ryan; a sister, Jayne Goldberg; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 15, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, 600 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
