Dora L. Coles, 85, retired after many years with Old Chickahominy House

dora colesOur beloved, Dora L. Coles, passed away, quietly in her sleep on Friday, January 29, 2016, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.

Her life began on January 31, 1930, the daughter of the late Orene and Matthew Anderson, of Providence Forge, Virginia.

At an early age she confessed Christ as her Personal Savior and joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, in Providence Forge. She retired after many years of service from the Old Chickahominy House. She was loved by all and she will be greatly missed.

Dora was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd L. Coles. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her devoted daughter, Darlette Coles; her grandchildren, Johnathan “JC” Coles and Rachel E. Davis; her great-grandchildren, Sariyah, Morgan and Elijah; her son-in-law, Robert J. Jones; her special cousin, whom she thought of as a sister, Joyce A. Walker; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Friday, February 5, 2016, in Whiting’s Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Providence Forge.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home by 11:45 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Coles may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
