On Saturday morning, January 16, 2016, Kenneth Eugene Green entered into eternal rest in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, in Williamsburg, Virginia, after a lengthy battle with cancer.Blessed to have lived his life on his own terms, Kenneth Eugene Green never let life’s curves dampen his spirit. In his greatest moments of challenge, with unwavering faith, Kenneth always thought of his love ones first. He was especially proud of the man his son, Kenneth Green II, grew to become. He was also proud of the strength and tenacity of his daughter, Teddi DaNean Sturgis Watson. His positive attitude and big smile were unforgettable as well as contagious.
Kenneth E. Green was born December 5, 1942, in Washington, DC, to the late Alexander Green, Jr. and Christine Green and was the brother of Alexander Green, III and the late Florence Green Prints. Kenneth Green received his early education in the Public School System of Washington, DC.
After his Honorable Discharge from a tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force and the completion of his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland College Park, Kenneth spent more than 30 years with the District of Columbia Public School System. He served as a Vocational Education Teacher of Electricity and Electronics, as the Principal of Phelps Adult and Continuing Education Night School, and later as the Principal of Booker T. Washington Public Charter High School of Technical Arts.
Kenneth was a man of strong faith. At an early age, he was baptized at the Walker Memorial Baptist Church, in Washington, DC and later joined Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Kenneth was also preceded in death by his daughter, April Green.
