Marsha Diann Horn was born September 23, 1950, to Don and Lillian Fitzsimmons Sr. at Dodge City, KS. She departed this life on December 31, 2015 at her home in Virginia Beach, VA within the loving embrace of her family.

In life, she was one of the most brave people you could ever meet. She greeted each challenge life brought her with courage and willingness, never considering any task too large or small. People, especially her family, were her top priority. She had a way of knowing exactly what to do no matter the circumstance and was always ready with a warm smile and a sturdy hand.

A love of the outdoors followed her throughout life. She spent countless hours meandering up and down the beach with members of her family and sometimes, convinced them to climb lighthouses with her. She often reminisced about hiking and mountain climbing in Colorado as a youth and all the little adventures a day outside could bring. Later in life, she could be found working in one of her many gardens.

Blessed with boundless energy and a curious spirit, she never lost the vibrance of youth. This was most evidenced when she was spending time with children; whether her own or those she watched over the years. Instead of sending the kids out to play, she was the first to dash out the door for a game of tag or Simon says. Rainy days were never boring as she could always be counted on to spring out of a chair and dance all over the house to a favorite song. Simply put, she was our little “energizer bunny” and we were blessed to have her.

She is survived by five brothers – Don Jr, Troy, Kurt, Tracy, and Bart – and one sister – Judy. Her husband and soulmate of 46 years – Bill. Three daughters and their spouses – Lillian and Steve, Donna and Paul, Cynthia and Jon. Eight grandchildren – Blake (T), Megan, Ashley (Jeremiah), Nikki, Andrea, Audra, Dale, and Morgan. Two great grandchildren – Quinnton and Ethan.

There will not be a service as she strongly preferred that everyone celebrate life as opposed to mourning a loss.

Condolences for the family may be left at hdoliver.com.
