Charles J. Campbell, 93, WWII veteran submariner who retired from USPS as a letter carrier

Charles J. Campbell, of Virginia Beach, died peacefully at his residence on Sept. 30, 2015, at the age of 93.

He was born July 3, 1922, in Watertown, Massachusetts, son of the late Francis and Eva Campbell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Angela; daughters, Jill Coons (Billy), Coral Hawkins (Arthur), Kim Tosloskie (John) and Anita King (Christopher); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister.

He was a WWII veteran submariner. He retired from USPS as a letter carrier. He belonged to the “Swindlers” at the Oceana Golf Course. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be missed by family, friends and anyone who knew him.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach. His final resting place will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A service there with full military honors will be held at a later date.
