Martha Josephine ‘Jo’ Roberts Ingebritsen, 96, assembled airplanes during WWII at Langley AFB

Martha Josephine “Jo” Roberts Ingebritsen, of Yorktown, died Sept. 9, 2015, at the age of 96.

Jo was a native of North Carolina. She moved to Virginia as a young woman, finding work in the war industry at Langley AFB assembling airplanes during WWII. While living in Hampton, she met and married her husband, Otis. Together Otis and Jo built a home in Yorktown and raised their family, sharing 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2009.

Jo will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She loved Yorktown and the Marlbank neighborhood that was her home for 62 years.

Jo is survived by her son, Kris Ingebritsen and his wife Melanie, of Seaford; daughter, Ann Morse and her husband John, of Chesapeake; sister, Jean Loftin, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Amber, Tara, Damon and Jack; and step-grandchildren Jukera, Keith, Rachel and Justin.

Friends are invited to visit the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at the home of Mrs. Ingebritsen in Yorktown. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Rev. Carleton Bakkum officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at  the church social hall.
