Ronald Dominic Darone, of Yorktown, died June 19, 2015, at the age of 71.
Ron was a retired colonel with the U.S. Army and a decorated Vietnam veteran with 26 years of service. Ron was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and a dedicated servant for the Kairos prison ministry of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Dorothy Lowrey Darone.
He is survived by his children, Emily Dominique Darone, Janie Rebecca Darone, Scott R. Darone (Marin) and Sharon “Mandy” Darone Parmer (Chuck); granddaughter, Meghan Noelle Parmer; and cousins, nieces and extended family and friends, including Kaye T. Darone.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Providence United Methodist Church, 113 Old Dare Rd., Yorktown, with a reception to follow. A burial with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in his memory to Kairos of Virginia, P.O.Box 182, Woodbridge VA 22194.
