Jerry Kinzer, 74, served his country at the Pentagon with US Army during the Vietnam War

After battling lung cancer, Jerry Kinzer, of Toano, died July 21, 2015, at the Hospice House of Williamsburg. He was 74.

He was born in Cleveland on Feb. 26, 1941, and graduated from West High School in 1958. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1963 and a master’s degree, with honors, from Case Western Reserve University in 1969.

During his military service in the U.S. Army, he was assigned to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense Systems Analysis and was stationed at the Pentagon where he served his country during the Vietnam War.

After his professional career as a management consultant, corporate financial officer and business owner, he and his wife, Merle, retired to the Williamsburg area in 2005 to be near his children and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his by loving wife, Merle; sons, Michael and Kenneth and their mother, Eileen; daughter-in-law, Beverly; and grandchildren, Sean, Grace and Declan.

Jerry’s ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors at a later date. A remembrance luncheon will follow the interment.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Hospice House of Williamsburg or a charity of your choice.
