Emil J. Kish Sr., 94, retired independent well driller and diesel mechanic

Emil J. Kish Sr., of Lightfoot, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the age of 94.

He was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on Jan. 27, 1920, to John and Susan Kish. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, 13th Infantry landing on Normandy. He then went to work as an independent well driller and diesel mechanic, from which he retired in 1985. Emil loved history, reading and sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susan Kish and his sister, Margaret Godward.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Henrietta C. Kish; five children, Cassandra K. Flanary, Karen S. Armandt, Emil J. (Melinda) Kish Jr., Pamela K. (Sherman) Moore and Mary Kish; grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael) Padgett, Brian (Shanna) Flanary, Clinton Kish, Kristen (Kevin) Eason, Megan (Jason) Thomas, Brett Varboncoeur, Courtney (Chris) Rourke, Ryan Varboncoeur, Cameron Moore and Emily Varboncoeur; and seven great-grandchildren, Graham, Bryce, Tristen, Liam, Grace, Whitney and Colin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Bucktrout Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Graver with burial to follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
