
Ira L. Partridge, of Toano, died May 20, 2014, at the age of 56.
He was born Nov. 14, 1957, in Honolulu to Robert I. and Bessie J. Partridge. He married Gabriele Zelt on March 18, 1988.
Mr. Partridge proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years. His duty stations were in Fort Lee, Mannheim, Germany, Fort Lewis, Wash. and Fort Knox, Ky. He retired to Huntsville, Ala. in 2002. His ambitions to serve his fellow soldiers after retirement from the Army brought him back to Virginia.
His motto was “My reward will be measured by the lethality of the tank crews I’ve trained and the battlefield damage they inflict!”
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Gaby; daughter, Caitlin; son, Max; mother, Bessie Partridge, of Gulfport, Miss.; two brothers, Walter (Tanoa) Partridge, of Benson, Ariz. and Robert Partridge, of Kaneohe, Hawaii; three sisters, Jean Chadwick, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Janice (Chester) McCammon, of Gulfport, Miss. and Lois Sullivan of Mesa, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
