Shelly Schumaker Iorizzo, of Williamsburg, died April 1, 2014, at the age of 47.
First and foremost, Mrs. Iorizzo was a devoted mother. Her love was unconditional and gave her the determination to face terminal illness, enduring treatments willingly to give her one more month, week, day or minute with her children.
She was all about relationships. Her sharp wit and laughter attracted many friends, especially her husband. Together, they built their life and family, making lasting relationships in New York, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Arizona and Virginia.
She will be deeply missed for her passion for life and compassion for others. She was an excellent cook, the life of any party and overwhelmingly generous. Her selfless nature was present throughout her life. Her final gift was the gift of sight through the donation of her corneas so that others may see life through her eyes.
She is survived by a loving family: her husband Lou, their children, Tyler and Monica, stepchildren, Vanessa, Luciano III (Dana) and grandchildren, Daniel and Lydia. She is also survived by her parents, Gary and Joy Schumaker; sister, Sherry (Jim) Best; brother, Wayne (Sarah) Schumaker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
There will be two celebrations: The first begin with visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Bucktrout of Williamsburg with a service immediately following at the Bucktrout Chapel.
Family and friends will also celebrate with visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, in her hometown of Hannibal, N.Y. at the Foster Funeral Home with service to follow.
Mrs. Iorizzo’s lifelong love of music can be honored through memorial contributions to the Williamsburg Music Club, P.O. Box 1808 Williamsburg, VA.
