Dorothy “Dot” Soles Moore, 82, 20-year employee with James R. Reed Associates who loved to entertain friends

Dorothy “Dot” Soles Moore, a native of Glenns and a Yorktown resident since 1950, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the age of 82.

She was a graduate of Middlesex High School, a former employee of Hornsby Oil and Shields Oil and worked for James R. Reed Associates as a field sampler, bookkeeper and project coordinator until retiring in 1995 after 20 years.

She enjoyed playing Bunko but her favorite love was entertaining all of her caring and devoted friends. Once she was a friend, she would be a friend forever. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and volunteer with many different projects at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucille Soles; sister, Gloria Jean Dunn; and brother, Wilmer Soles.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clarence “Bubs” Moore; sisters, Irma Hite, of Glenns and Barbara Ann Berry and her husband, William, of West Point; and brother, Edward Soles and his wife, Martha Jean, of Urbanna.

The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Providence United Methodist Church in Yorktown followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church social hall. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
