Bettie Moore Mallory, loving wife and mother and of Williamsburg, died March 12, 2014, at the age of 79.
She was born May 29, 1934 in Lynchburg, was a graduate of Brookville High and worked at Craddock & Terry Shoe Factory until she met her husband, Dennis. They were married in the bride’s home on Dec. 25, 1953. After a short honeymoon to Daytona Beach, Fla. the couple moved to Longhill Road on part of the Mallory farm. There she raised her family and lovingly cared for her younger sister.
Mrs. Mallory was a lover of flowers and birds and was a member of James River Baptist Church since 1959. She served in Vacation Bible School and was the WMU Mission Action chairman for over 20 years. She worked with the Seamen’s Center, Friendship House, migrant workers, local church ministries and many other state and global ministries.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dennis; sister, Ann Moore; daughter, Gail, her husband, Kent Palmer and their children, Jennifer Warden, Kent Palmer, Jr. and A.J. Palmer; son, Steve, his wife, Sherri and their children, Bethany, Seth and Morgan Mallory; son, Frank, his wife, Lynn and their children, Elizabeth and Vaughan Mallory and his wife, Amanda.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at James River Baptist Church, 4931 Centerville Road, Williamsburg followed by funeral service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be given to James River Baptist Church Multiministry Building Fund or Williamsburg Hospice House.
