September saw our first Commonwealth Conversations event, a 5-part speaker series featuring in-depth discussions with local trailblazers and thought leaders of our time.

We also kicked off our Pathways2Careers program with an open house sponsored by Virginia Peninsula Community College. Students (grades 9-12) learned about the program and visited skills stations hosted by the chamber’s Education Committee and Virginia Peninsula Community College staff.

Non-Profit Spotlight: Edmarc
Edmarc has been serving kids and families in the Hampton Roads area for over 40 years with family-centered home health and hospice for children with life-threatening illnesses through nursing, social, bereavement, and volunteer support. Our goal is to ease the gravity of pediatric illness and death and provide care for the patient and family as a whole. Families never receive a bill for any service Edmarc provides thanks to generous community support.
Edmarc is ramping up for one of busiest times of the year – the holiday season. During the holidays, Edmarc provides families with the extra support needed during a challenging time of year. Reaching out to deliver meals and gifts in a special way means the load becomes just a little lighter for those who are facing dark days during a festive time. Thanksgiving dinner gift baskets or a Holiday dinner gift basket are curated and delivered to all Edmarc families in November and December. These baskets allow a family to have all the food and goodies that they would need for the holidays. We also take the stress of holiday gift giving off of the parents through our annual Santa Run. We team up with police plus fire and rescue departments from all cities we have patients in to make special deliveries to every Edmarc family.
