VDOT’s Weekly Hampton Roads Lane Closures Report for Dec. 31 to Jan. 6

HAMPTON ROADS — VDOT’s list of full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and single-lane closures at the bridge-tunnels the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6.

VDOT will suspend many highway work zones and lift most lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia for holiday travel beginning noon, Friday, Dec. 22, until noon, Tuesday, Dec. 26 and from noon, Friday, Dec. 29 until noon, Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Bridges and Tunnels

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, I-64:  

• Mobile, single-lane closure westbound Jan. 3 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, I-664: 

• Alternating, single-lane closures southbound Jan. 2-4 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures northbound Jan. 2 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Berkley Bridge, I-264: 

• Double-lane closures westbound Jan. 2-6 from as early as 7 p.m. to as late as 6 a.m.
• Single-lane closures eastbound Jan. 4 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

James River Bridge, Route 17: 

• Brief, intermittent stoppages in both directions:
  • Jan. 2-4 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Jan. 2-5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Single-lane closures in both directions:
  • Jan. 2-4 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Jan. 2-5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Single-lane closure southbound Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hampton: 

• Full closure of the off-ramp from I-64 east to Rip Rap Road (exit 265C) continuously from Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. to Jan. 8 at 5 a.m.
• Brief, intermittent stoppages on I-64 east between LaSalle Avenue (exits 265) and Mallory Street (exit 268) Jan. 2-4 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Long-term, continuous single-lane closure on I-64 in both directions, reducing travel lanes from three to two lanes between Settlers Landing Road/Woodland Road (exit 267) and LaSalle Avenue (exit 265), with I-64 west traffic shifted to the I-64 east lanes. View the full traffic alert here.

Norfolk, Reversible Roadway:

• Full closure in both directions:
  • Jan. 2-4 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Jan. 3-5 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
