WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Regional Library plays host as the Ford’s Colony Model Railroad Club celebrates its 20th anniversary holiday train show this weekend at the James City County Library.
Visitors will be able to explore seven unique layouts and participate in a scavenger hunt by searching for hidden features tucked within the scenes.
“It’s the highlight of my year,” said Andrew Smith, one of the Adult Library Service Directors at Williamsburg Regional Library. “It’s something I know [Ford’s Colony Model Railroad Club] looks forward to, that they work on year round, and to be around people who are so dedicated to such an intricate hobby, and who are so happy to share with other people is just really inspiring.”
In addition to the trains, Santa will be available from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6 for photos. The Norge Depot, located next door to the library, will be hosting an open house, and there will be two food trucks — Catering by SV on Saturday and Bald Guys Pies on Sunday — in the parking lot.
The club received a special proclamation in November from the James City County Board of Supervisors marking the 20th anniversary.
The show will be held at WRL’s James City County location on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Williamsburg Regional Library website.
