YORK COUNTY — Yorktown Market Days kicks off its 19th Season on April 12 from 8 a.m. to noon.

With sweeping views of the beautiful York River, Yorktown Market Days has been named one of Coastal Virginia Magazine’s Best Farmers Markets in Hampton Roads.

According to York County Public Affairs, Yorktown Market Days offers diverse vendors, local artists and food trucks at Riverwalk Landing, offering visitors the opportunity to browse seasonal produce, seafood, meats, breads, soaps, candles, honey, gourmet dog treats and more.

This season, several themed markets will offer extended hours and additional family-friendly activities, including live music, educational programming, and performances by the Fifes and Drums of York Town.

The market season runs Saturdays through the end of October, rain or shine, except on May 3 and Oct. 4. The market moves to the Water Street Parking Terrace during inclement weather.

Kicking off the season on April 12, Yorktown Market Days will Go Green to encourage shoppers to reduce, reuse, and recycle to promote environmental sustainability.

Complimentary reusable shopping bags will be available while supplies last. Shoppers will have an opportunity to learn about eco-friendly methods and products with artists and vendors alike, and some businesses will offer recycling incentives at their booths for future purchases.

The county said the market is a way for families of all economic backgrounds to access fresh, nutritious food as close to the source as possible — the region’s farmers, chefs and food artisans.

Yorktown Market Days is also a participant in the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Virginia’s Fresh Match Program. Any shopper using an EBT card to purchase fruits and vegetables will get a dollar-for-dollar match.
