POQUOSON — Friends of the Poquoson Public Library are currently looking for donations for its spring book sale slated for April 24-27.
Hosted for over 30 years, the spring sale is one of two annual book sales, wit the second taking place in the fall. Proceeds from the event go to library programming for both youth and adults, helping to pay for things such as program speakers and new technology.
For example, the library was recently able to purchase digital memory lab equipment with the help of the funds raised with this program. The digital memory lab equipment allows patrons to convert VHS tapes, DVDs and old film to digital media. Funds also go to the summer and winter reading programs with the library.
The group says hardbacks in good condition are their biggest need, however, paperbacks, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records are also being accepted. The group asks that nonfiction books be no more than five years old. Encyclopedias, VHS tapes and cassette tapes will not be accepted.
According to Jessica Hartley, Library Director/PIO for the Poquoson Public Library, donations will be accepted until April 23.
A member preview sale will start on April 24 from 5-9 p.m. The sale will be open to the public April 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.
