WILLIAMSBURG 一 K’bola Cuban Restaurant and Bar held a ribbon-cutting with the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Aug. 19, to celebrate its new location in Merchants Square.
The restaurant is owned by husband and wife duo Mario Casado and Lisseth Borrego, whose culinary and entrepreneurship journey began in Camaguey, Cuba. In 2006, the group moved to the States and opened K’bola in New Town in 2020.
K’bola comes from “¿Qué bolá?”, a Caribbean slang used in Cuba that translates to “what’s up?” and is typically used as a casual greeting among friends and family.

The couple decided to move from New Town to Merchants Square in hopes of reaching more customers.
“We started looking around and we said Colonial Williamsburg would be perfect,” said Borrego.
K’bola, at 110 N. Henry St., is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
