WILLIAMSBURG— The Rochambeau Roadside Inn celebrated opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 31.
The motel, purchased by its second-ever owner, Williamsburg local Lyle Schiavone, was originally built between 1952 and 1954 in several phases. Plans for the property had to be placed on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, but after talks with the city of Williamsburg, it was decided that the best use would be a revitalization of the motel.
The ribbon-cutting event gave attendees the opportunity to look at several of the rooms and mingle before the main event.

“This is always an exciting time when we gather to celebrate a new business but in particular this one because we’re celebrating a transition in this property that’s unbelievable,” said Pat Dent, Vice Mayor for the City of Williamsburg.
“It’s been a true family affair and it will continue to be so, we appreciate everyone’s support and we look forward to finishing up the next chapter and seeing what we can do with it,” added Schiavone.

After the ribbon cutting, guests were once again invited to mingle and take a look at the facilities and enjoy refreshments.
“It’s been incredible to finally open our doors and welcome guests into the experience we’ve envisioned for so long. Seeing people settle in, explore the area, and embrace what we’ve created at Rochambeau Roadside Inn has been truly rewarding,” Schiavone said. “The support from the community has meant so much, and we’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead filled with even more ways to connect with travelers and locals alike.”
The motel is currently open for reservations and located at 929 Capitol Landing Road in
Williamsburg. For more information about the Rochambeau Motel, visit its official website.
