BUFFALO — The Tribe’s NFL coaching legacy will continue in Buffalo as William & Mary Class of 2013 graduate Joe Brady is reportedly set to take over the reins of the Bills.
Brady, who both played and coached at William & Mary, had been the offensive coordinator since 2023 under former head coach and fellow alum Sean McDermott. In 2024, his coaching helped Bills Quarterback Josh Allen win the NFL MVP.
Reports from various sports organizations say that Brady’s head coaching contract is for five years.
In his time as a wide receiver for the Tribe from 2009-12, Brady earned academic all-conference honors twice. He also helped the Tribe reach the NCAA FCS playoffs twice, which included a trip to the semifinals in 2009. He earned four letters before graduating from the program. After graduating, he coached the linebackers from 2013-14 before moving on to be a graduate assistant at Penn State for a year.
Brady earned his first NFL coaching job in 2017 as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints, before returning to the college level at Louisiana State University in 2019 as the team’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
He spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers before being hired by Buffalo as its quarterbacks coach in 2022.
