NEWPORT NEWS — Police officers here will host three “Coffee with a Cop” events throughout the next three weeks.
The first will be Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Starbucks, 5030 West Mercury Blvd.
If you can’t make Thursday, a second one will be on July 25 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at IHOP, 15447 Warwick Blvd.
The third event on July 31 from 8:00 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Warwick Restaurant, 12306 Warwick Blvd.
“The ‘Coffee with a Cop’ initiative is designed to provide both residents and officers an opportunity to interact in a relaxed setting where officers can better understand the community’s concerns while allowing the community a chance to get to know the officers patrolling their neighborhoods,” said Jamie Bastas, senior communications specialist for the Newport News Police Department.
The three events do not include agendas or speeches, just a chance to enjoy a cup of coffee and ask questions or voice concerns, the department wrote in a news release.
