JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County Police arrested a Williamsburg man Sunday in connection with an attempted abduction and sexual assault reported Friday night at Barnes & Noble, 5101 Main St.
Police said Tito Jamar Brown, 29, of Williamsburg, was arrested following an investigation into the incident, which was reported around 8:40 p.m. Friday at the bookstore.
According to police, Brown confronted a 17-year-old girl inside the women’s restroom, exposed himself and attempted to drag her into a bathroom stall. The girl was able to escape and was not injured.
Officers gathered evidence, reviewed surveillance footage and canvassed nearby businesses after the incident. Police said those efforts led to Brown’s arrest at about 1:46 p.m. Sunday near Jamestown Settlement.
Brown was charged with abduction with intent to defile, sexual battery and indecent exposure.
He is being held without bond at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
