HAMPTON ROADS — Businesses around Hampton Roads are getting ready for a launch — a Taylor Swift-themed launch — in celebration of the pop star’s latest album.
“The Life of A Showgirl,” the latest album from Swift, is set to release on Oct. 3, and Regal theaters will celebrate with a listening party at both the Williamsburg/New Town and Kiln Creek locations.
During the 90-minute show, fans will get a sneak peek at “The Fate of Ophelia” music video, behind-the-scenes footage from the music video filming, lyric videos and personal reflections from Swift on her 12th album. The cinema will also offer a specialty cocktail.
“We don’t live in a location where we get to experience big concerts or cool pop-ups, so this gives us the opportunity to be a part of the Taylor Swift community! It’s fun to meet other Swifties, share the excitement and friendship bracelets,” one local Swift fan said.
According to Regal Cinemas, arriving early is advised as the film has no previews and dressing up in Taylor Swift-themed outfits is encouraged.
This is not the first time Swift has seen the big screen. Most recently, fans were able to attend a special screening of Swift’s The Eras Tour before it streamed on Disney+. Tickets are available through Regal Cinemas, and the show is only scheduled to run in theaters from Oct. 3-5.
After the movie, fans can head to various local businesses in the Historic Triangle to get even more of a Taylor fix.
Burgers on the Edge, located on Merrimac Trail, will be celebrating the album release during operating hours on Friday. The restaurant will have specials related to the album and will play her music throughout the day.
On Oct. 4, from 5-7 p.m., Tabitha Sewer Studio will hold a kids craft night and listening party for ages six and up at its location at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets. Tickets are $40 and include pizza, arts and crafts, games and Taylor Swift music.
Swift’s latest album dropped to all streaming platforms at midnight on Oct. 3. To listen to the album, visit Spotify.com and Apple Music.
