WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Capital Trail turns 10 on Oct. 2, and to commemorate the milestone, the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation announced that it is hosting two birthday celebrations, one at each end of the trail.
The Capital Trail’s 10th Birthday Celebrations will take place on Friday, Oct. 3, at Billsburg Brewery in Williamsburg, and on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Triple Crossing Beer-Fulton, in Richmond. Each evening includes dinner — barbecue and sides in Williamsburg or wood-fired pizza and appetizers in Richmond — two complimentary beverages, a commemorative 10th Anniversary pint glass, and remarks from guest speakers reflecting on the trail’s story, impact and future.
“The Virginia Capital Trail is such a tremendous asset to our communities and region. From daily commutes and outdoor adventures to driving trail development and inspiring new business ventures, we’re incredibly proud of the impact the trail has made,” shares Cat Anthony, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. “As we celebrate this milestone, we’re honored to reflect on the vision that brought the trail to life and excited to focus on what’s ahead as we work to extend the trail to Williamsburg and beyond.”
Individual tickets are $65. There is also an 8-pack available for $600, which includes program recognition and a raffle entry. Ticket prices increase after Aug. 20. Proceeds support the foundation’s work to protect, enhance and grow the Virginia Capital Trail.
Officially opening in 2015, the 51.7-mile Virginia Capital Trail links communities from James City County to Richmond, averaging over a million usage counts annually, according to the foundation.
