GLOUCESTER — The Gloucester County Commissioner of the Revenue’s office has received its accreditation for 2025 from the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia, the county announced.

“I am very proud that the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office has received accreditation,” said JoAnne Harris, Gloucester’s Commissioner of the Revenue. “This is an appreciable recognition of the effort put forth each and every day by the Commissioner’s office staff members and myself to serve the citizens of Gloucester County.”

According to the county, as part of the accreditation process, offices must successfully pass an outside audit with no findings of material weakness. Accreditation is awarded only to those offices that have met the rigorous standards set forth by the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia.

The county said that the twelve standards set forth by the Association include education requirements for the Commissioner and staff, customer service, personnel and ethics policies, as well as assessment methodology.

“Your Commitment to excellence is both a testament to you and your staff,” said T. Scott Harris, Career Development Program Committee Chair.

The Commissioner of the Revenue Association has 73 active members across Virginia. The Association hosts multiple classes and conferences to support its members and enable offices to stay current in practices and standards.

All members such as commissioners and staff are also members of the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
