The Associated Press has called the race in Virginia for former Vice President Joe Biden.
That call was made at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday “after results from early returns and an AP survey of the electorate showed the former vice president had beaten President Donald Trump in the state,” according to the AP.
Virginia carries 13 electoral votes.
“While only about 10% of the vote had been counted statewide, completed counts in a representative selection of precincts in communities across Virginia showed Biden comfortably ahead of Trump,” the AP wrote.
Unofficial returns from the Virginia Department of Elections at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday showed Biden with 2,020,410 (52.26%) and Trump with 1,771,718 (45.82%) — 2,565 of 2,585 precincts reporting.
With three out of three precincts reporting in Williamsburg, Biden garnered 4,754 (69.55%) to Trump’s 1,953 (28.57%).
James City County with 20 of 20 precincts reporting – Biden 23,172 (52.19%); Trump 20,407 (45.96%).
