
Four people were injured from electric shock in what fire officials are calling “a workplace incident” in York County Wednesday afternoon.
Two of the injured were taken by ambulance to local hospitals; one was flown by Nightingale Air Ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and another patient was flown by Life Evac Air Ambulance to VCU Medical Center.
Information on their conditions was not immediately released.
Personnel from the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety, along with crews from James City County and Williamsburg Fire departments, were dispatched to incident at Parkside Resort (100 block of Parkside Drive) in the Bruton area of York County at around 1:30 p.m.
Authorities said 911 calls “indicated that multiple persons had been electrocuted.”
“Upon arrival, fire and rescue units found four patients with various degrees of injuries from what was reported as a ladder contacting overhead power lines,” according to a news release from the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety.
Officials said “this appears to be a workplace incident; the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted.”
