The Alison Brown Quintet is scheduled to perform a free concert at 6 p.m. in Merchants Square Friday, June 3. Headlined by Grammy Award-winning banjoist and co-founder of Compass Records Alison Brown, the group will perform selections from Brown’s critically-acclaimed musical career. Brown spoke with 92.3 FM The Tide’s Andy Harris about the concert, her bandmates, her excitement to be in Williamsburg on the eve of July 4th and the 250th anniversary of the United States, and how her record label serves as a stepping stone for other musicians.
