U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Jill Ellis will travel to William & Mary next month to speak for Homecoming and Reunion Weekend 2019.
Ellis, a William & Mary graduate and former women’s soccer player, will attend the William & Mary celebratory weekend following her completion of the Victory Tour — and the completion of her career as the national head coach, William & Mary announced in a news release.
Ellis will step down from her position in October following the completion of the Victory Tour, according to the U.S. Soccer website. She is the first coach in history to win two Women’s World Cups and have an overall record of 102-7-18.
Ellis will attend several William & Mary events, including:
- Homecoming Parade — 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18 along Richmond Road
- Bold Moments: A Conversation with Jill Ellis ’88, L.H.D. ’16 and President Rowe — 10:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Sadler Center. A sit-down discussion with President Katherine Rowe about Ellis’s team victories, coaching philosophies and more.
- W&M football game vs. JMU — 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Zable Stadium.
Beyond those events, Ellis will also meet with the W&M Women’s Soccer Team, participate in the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society initiation and spend time thanking scholarship donors, the release said.
Other homecoming events can be found on the William & Mary event website.
