NORFOLK — Storytelling, culinary demonstrations, crafts, live performances, and even, two “live” mermaids are among the more than 100 activities Festevents has planned for the 31st annual Virginia Children’s Festival on Oct. 5 at Town Point Park.
Officials announced this year’s “Under the Sea” theme in a news release Tuesday and said the festival site will be organized to feature separate interactive and educational “aquatic-themed zones.”
“From jaw-dropping science at the ‘Education Station’ to the diverse traditions of the ‘Cultural Coast’ to the live dance and musical performances at the ‘WHRO Public Media Lights! Camera! Action! Stage,’ festival guests are treated to an action-packed afternoon of fun and friendship,” organizers said.
Tickets are $5 and include headlining live performances from musical artists like Grammy winners Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats.
And, come ready to move — the “Baby Shark Dance!” is happening at least twice at one of the main stages.
Touch a boat, watch a military demonstration, meet a Storm Trooper, or run loose on the festival playground — it’ll all be there at the Virginia Children’s Festival.
