Don’t be alarmed if you see a lot of activity at Fort Story the next couple of days. Here’s why

Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story will conduct a training exercises the mornings of Oct. 24 and 25 as part of scheduled training.

Measures are being taken to minimize disruptions to the surrounding communities and to normal base operations, but minimal traffic impacts may be experienced in the vicinity of all gates, according to a news release from the base.

There will be some times when gates may close for short periods of time.

The exercise is designed to enhance the readiness of the installation’s security forces. The training events are not in response to any specific threat, base officials said.

Area residents in the vicinity of JEBLCFS may see additional military activity associated with the training exercises.

During any training event, there is the possibility of traffic and pedestrian congestion associated with exercises.

In addition, residents may hear increased use of the installations emergency announcing system associated with the exercises
