
VIRGINIA BEACH — A suspected bank robber was arrested following a vehicle crash and a short foot chase Wednesday afternoon.
Clevester Antoine Lucas, 33, of Whittaker, North Carolina, is charged with entering a bank while armed, two counts of armed robbery, two counts if use of firearm in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, wearing a mask in public and felony eluding.
Lucas is being held in the Virginia Beach Jail without bond.
Police were sent to Wells Fargo, 699 Independence Blvd., at around 1:44 p.m. on a report of an armed robbery. This was the second Wells Fargo branch in Virginia Beach – on the same street – robbed this week.
Police said Lucas fled in a vehicle, crashing at the intersection of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Independence Boulevard.
Lucas then ran but was caught a “after a short foot pursuit,” police said.
There were no injuries reported at the bank and following the crash.
On Monday afternoon, the Wells Fargo branch at 1068 Independence Blvd. was robbed.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspect in that incident.
