WILLIAMSBURG — While gas prices ebb and flow, there is still something to feel good about this week: Virginia’s gas prices are in the top-10 cheapest prices nationwide

Unleaded prices averaging at $2.62 Monday, only 2 cents more than last week and 25 cents cheaper than the national average, AAA Tidewater Virginia said.

Virginia’s pump prices have fallen 9 cents since last month but have risen 59 cents since last year.

Despite Virginia’s fortunate standing with the ninth-cheapest gas prices in the nation, the cost is predicted to continue to rise — a result of high demand and “geopolitical factors,” AAA Tidewater said.

Only a dozen states saw gas prices price fall leading up to Monday, AAA Tidewater said.
