JAMES CITY — What better way for kids to get to know their local police officers than with free ice cream?
Two upcoming Ice Cream with a Cop events aim to build a background of trust between youth and local law enforcement, James City County said in a news release.
Children and adults will be welcomed into a relaxed environment where they can meet and speak with James City County police officers over a free cup or cone, the county said.
The Ice Cream with a Cop events will be from noon to 2 p.m. July 13 and Aug. 24 at Bruster’s Ice Cream, 5289 John Tyler Highway.
If you would like to host an Ice Cream with a Cop, contact Sgt. John LeClaire at 757-259-5174.
