VIRGINIA BEACH — Very few details are being released about the discovery of a man’s body Friday morning in the waters of Lake Smith/Lawson.
Police identified the body as that of Jairo Armando Sanchez-Guardado of Chesapeake.
He was 19 years old.
Police said they have launched a “suspicious death” investigation. The department’s Homicide Unit is leading the probe, according to a police news release.
Dispatchers received a call at 10:06 a.m. Friday from two kayakers who reported “a deceased man near the shoreline.”
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Habitat Lane where they found the man.
