If you’re not a resident of James City County or the City of Williamsburg, you can expect to pay for parking at Jamestown Beach Event Park this summer.
Starting Memorial Day weekend, parking fees for non-residents will be charged from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, according to the James City County Parks & Recreation Department.
Fees are $4 per weekday and $7 on weekend days for passenger vehicles. High-occupancy vehicles are $10 per day, and buses are $15 per day.
James City County and Williamsburg residents can still enjoy free parking at the park through the summer with proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, utility bill, lease agreement or voter registration card.
James City County and city residents can also obtain a free parking permit, which is displayed on their vehicles and eliminates the need to provide onsite proof of residency with each beach park visit.
The parking fees will be charged through Labor Day in September.
Residents of York County are not eligible for the free parking decal. York County residents with Williamsburg mailing addresses are also not eligible, because the free parking is based on the locality visitors pay taxes to.
Free decals can be picked up at any of the distribution locations during office operating hours: Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, 8901 Pocahontas Trail; Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Highway; Freedom Park, 5537 Centerville Rd.; Jamestown Beach Event Park (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day), 2205 Jamestown Rd.; James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Rd.; James City County Marina, 2054 Jamestown Rd.; and Little Creek Reservoir Park,180 Lakeview Rd.
Those interested in the parking decal will need to bring “qualifying identification” such as a valid driver’s license or identification card with a current address.
Special or additional parking fees may be charged during special events.
