VIRGINIA BEACH — The city has won an Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Innovation Award from the Alliance for Innovation, city officials said Friday.
Virginia Beach was invited to present its case study “Becoming a Flood-Resilient Region: StormSense Meets Data Science” during the 2018 Transforming Local Government Conference in Tacoma, Washington.
The presentation was selected by a panel of city and county managers, innovation officers and academic representatives to receive the honor, according to a news release from the city.
The selection committee reviewed several submissions with special consideration given to local governments that demonstrated creativity and excellence while enhancing daily operations, re-imagining business processes and strengthening civic engagement.
