VIRGINIA BEACH — This city has officially been named a recipient of the upcoming 2018 CIO 100 awards by IDG’s CIO.
CIO is hosting its 31st annual award program to recognize organizations for producing programs and projects that exhibit advanced levels of strategic and operational superiority in information technology.
According to a news release, Virginia Beach was recognized by CIO for it’s innovative StormSense project — a project that aims to provide residents with greater information about floods and decision making.

All data and information will be accessible to the public. Long term goals of the project include better preparing resdents for flood-related emergencies and ultimately building more resilient communities and creating stronger disaster recovery efforts.
“This year’s winners are inspiring examples of how IT leadership, business partnerships and customer engagement can reshape the future,” said Maryfran Johnson, executive director of CIO Programs for CIO Events and the CIO Executive Council.
Winners will be announced during the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony on Aug. 15 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
