VIRGINIA BEACH — Members of the famed Vienna Boys Choir will perform at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts just a few days before Christmas to help celebrate the holiday season.
The choir was formed in 1498 and until 1918 performed exclusively for Vienna’s imperial court. Now, the choir consists of 100 singers between the ages of 10 and 14 representing 31 countries. They are divided into four touring groups who between them perform as many as 300 concerts per year.
The conductor for the Virginia Beach performance, Manolo Cagnin, was born in Treviso, Italy. Cagnin has been with the Vienna Boys Choir since 2008.
The Virginia Arts Festival’s presentation of “Christmas in Vienna” will include an array of holiday songs from the centuries-old to popular Christmas favorites.
The Sandler Center performance is on Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, click here.
