2 men hospitalized after Virginia Beach shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH — Two men were shot and injured in Virginia Beach on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The men were discovered in the 3500 block of Poppy Crescent around 2:13 p.m. — just seven minutes after Virginia Beach police officers were called to another nearby location for a “firearms violation.”

Police responded to the first location in the 1200 block of Blue Jay Drive around 2:06 p.m. They discovered that a group of people were initially at the scene, but fled when they heard the gunshots, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Police believe the two men found shot on Poppy Crescent were connected to the gunshots heard on Blue Jay Drive. The men were taken to local hospitals, but police are unsure of the extend of their injuries.
