VIRGINIA BEACH — A 21-year-old Virginia Beach man died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing South Independence Boulevard, police say.
Raekwon Allen Mcrae was hit by a driver operating a Dodge pickup truck on Monday night in the 1800 block of Independence Boulevard and the 900 block of Windsor Oaks Boulevard, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Police said that Mcrae was not using the crosswalk when he crossed South Independence Boulevard, and the crossing signal was not green.
He was taken to a local hospital and died on Tuesday morning.
The driver of the pickup truck was issued a summons for not having an operator’s license.
