A woman was arrested earlier this month after police say she drunkenly attempted to bite and kick police officers.

James City County police officers were dispatched to a house on Alesa Drive around 8 p.m. Oct. 4 after receiving reports of a woman trying to “fight everyone,” police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

Police arrived to discover Joanna Beatrice Quintanilla, 25, had left the area on foot and gone to an address on Debra Drive, Williams said.

Officers attempted to speak with her, Williams said, but she refused to respond, stumbled around and screamed and cursed at people in the area.

Williams said the woman began to resist when police took her into custody for allegedly being drunk in public.

“Officers were able to handcuff her and as they attempted to put her in the vehicle, she attempted to bite both officers multiple times and kicked one of the officers,” Williams said.

After Quintanilla was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, she allegedly kicked an officer in the arm.

The officer suffered minor bruising and had “marks,” Williams said. There were no further injuries.

Quintanilla is charged with drunk in public and four felony counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. She is scheduled to appear in the Williamsburg-James City County General District Court at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 16.
